NEW 2025 Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum - Low Risk Departments

The Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum (PVPC) is a 3.5-hour, eLearning course divided into eight modules that incorporates best practices and training levels necessary for different occupations, environments, and risk levels. The course is designed to support the safety of all people working in healthcare by helping prevent violent incidents, and helping workers better protect themselves and others from verbal and physical violence in the workplace by reflecting current work environments.
Course content includes the four-part violence prevention framework, point-of-care risk assessments, behavioural care plans, communication and de-escalation techniques, when and how to call for help, and reporting incidents and near-misses.
This interactive course uses knowledge checks, myth-busting activities, reflection exercises and user-selected example scenarios in environments that demonstrate how learners can use cultural safety and humility, diversity, trauma-informed practice, and other best practices for violence prevention.
