Violence Prevention: Module 4 – Assess and Plan Part 2: Behavioural Care Plans

The Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum (PVPC) is an eLearning course to educate and train health care workers on the competencies required to reduce verbal and physical violence from patients and family members.

Providing education to employees is an important part of a comprehensive violence prevention program.

For those providing direct care, it forms the foundation for further training.
For those who do not provide direct patient care, it helps build your understanding and ability to assess situations, and know when and how to seek support or resources.

At the end of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Describe what a behavioural care plan is and what it is used for
  2. Recognize and communicate Violence Risk Alerts

The course supports and incorporates Indigenous Cultural Safety, Trauma Informed Practice, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion into the curriculum, and explains how they relate to violence prevention.
