Violence Prevention – PVPC Classroom
Course Prerequisites
Course Description
This practical, eight-hour classroom session provides opportunities to practice key violence prevention strategies and builds on the skills learned in the PVPC e-learning modules.
Topics covered in-depth include:
- PVPC Framework
- Recognizing Risks and Behaviours
- Assessing and Planning (point-of-care risk assessments and behavioural care planning)
- Responding to the Risk (de-escalation skills, determining when and how to call for help, applying personal safety techniques)
- Reporting and Communicating Post Incident

Prerequisites:
- The curriculum Provincial Violence Prevention for Medium and High Risk Departments - 8 Modules, holding all 8 Violence Prevention modules.
If you have completed the online requirements but did not enroll into the curriculum to receive overall curriculum completion, please enroll by visiting the link here.
Upon enrollment, if you have completed all 8 modules, it will take around 1 hour for the curriculum to appear complete under your Learning History. Once the curriculum is complete, please come back to this page and register into a Classroom session.
