Radiation Safety: Radiation Safety Basics (Online)

Radiation Safety Basics provides an introduction to the types of radiation safety hazards present in HealthCare, and methods staff can use to protect themselves from these hazards. Also covered are the regulatory agencies and legislation governing radiation safety in the workplace, occupational dose limits, and people that can be contacted for more information about radiation safety issues. This course takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.


This course is only intended for clinical and administrative staff regularly working with or near sources of radiation (x-ray equipment and/or nuclear medicine areas).

For example Clerical Staff, X-ray Technologists, Cardiology Technologists, Biomed Engineering Technologists

This course is NOT intended for support service staff.

All support services staff are to take the Radiation Safety Foundations (https://learninghub.phsa.ca/Courses/23142/radiation-safety-radiation-safety-foundations-online).

For example Housekeeping, Facilities Maintenance, Security, Warehouse & Distribution, and Porters.
