Palliative Essentials in Long-Term Care 5: Active dying, grief, and bereavement
This section of the course addresses how to support residents to die with comfort and dignity and their families to live well with this memory.
The BC Centre for Palliative Care Palliative Essentials in Long-Term Care (LTC) Course is designed to help LTC clinicians integrate a palliative approach into everyday care. The course is part of a 5-part curriculum that includes base content for a palliative approach upon which to build further learning of discipline-specific knowledge and skills. The online education is meant to complement application of education in the care home. It is comprised of short, free, online resources, which have been curated to provide introductions to reputable sources and accommodate various learning styles.
The curriculum is for nurses and allied health clinicians working in BC LTC homes, and available for physicians and nurse practitioners. A companion course is in development for health care assistants (HCA).
