PHSA - BCEHS - DEI - 400: Session 3/5
Trauma-informed leadership for eradicating workplace oppression and advancing equitable and effective workplaces
Focus: Developing trauma-informed and equity-centred practices in healthcare and workplace culture. Why is understanding oppression-based trauma essential for developing high-impact leadership? How does practicing trauma-informed leadership advance healthy, productive workplaces? In this session, we will explore the basics of trauma education and examine how historical and ongoing racism, colonialism, and oppression create and perpetuate trauma and stress. We will learn how transforming one’s leadership into a trauma-informed practice is good for everyone. This workshop is about minimizing and eradicating oppression-based harm, not about the clinical treatment of trauma.
This session is delivered as a component of the course Inclusive leadership in unpredictable times: Heart work and hard work.
