Magnetic Resonance Safety: Level 1 Personnel

In the Magnetic Resonance Safety: Level 1 Personnel course, learners will explore fundamental topics related to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) safety. Completion of the course will ensure learners be able to protect themselves and others while in the MRI environment.

Learners will spend 45-60 minutes exploring six modules, which include:
• Introduction of MR Physics,
• MR Zoning, Signage and Access,
• MR Safety Labelling,
• Patient Safety in MR,
• Staff Safety in MR, and
• Static Magnetic Field Related Safety Issues.


Level 1 personnel course is suitable for BC MR clerical staff, MR technical/care aides, MI registered nurses or MI site coordinators who perform routine and regular work in the restricted zones III and IV within MRI departments.

After the completion of the Level 1 course, learners will still be required to attend in-person orientation and complete safety screening prior to unsupervised work.
