PHSA - BCW - Heard and Valued: Engaging Marginalized Populations
This course provides guidance for choosing among various methods - such as surveys, workshops, and focus groups - as well as considerations for conducting inclusive engagement activities that support diverse populations to participate in a meaningful way.
The course does not address how to conduct each method of engaging patients.
After completing this course. learners will be able to:
- Outline the implications of excluding marginalized patients’ voices from healthcare planning
- Describe how patient engagement processes exclude marginalized people from participating in a meaningful way
- Identify strategies to develop patient engagement processes that support marginalized populations to participate
- Review a case study of a program engaging marginalized patients in health services planning
