This course will teach you the principles of musculoskeletal injury (MSI) prevention and provide supporting tools to help you stay injury-free at work.

Topics in this course include:

  • Musculoskeletal injury prevention basics
  • Injury risk factors and how to address them
  • VCH Manual Material Handling Standard
  • Body mechanics

If you directly interact with patients/residents/clients, please complete the Safe Patient Handling Principles course first. You can also review this course for additional information on working with objects such as boxes, tools, storage shelves.

Staff who work with objects, equipment, and tools as a regular part of their workplace duties including:

  • food services
  • housekeeping
  • facilities maintenance and operations (FMO)
  • office/administrative staff
  • pharmacy
  • dialysis
  • medical device reprocessing department (MDRD).
