The course outlines ways to improve adherence and communication with cancer patients, and introduce BC Cancer patient counselling resources that can facilitate answering patient questions.After completing this course, learners will be able to:
- Review factors that influence patient adherence to oral cancer drugs
- Identify strategies that can improve patient adherence
- Consider the impact of health literacy, prescription labelling, language barriers, communication style, and cultural competency on effective patient communication
- Become familiar with BC Cancer resources useful in counselling the oncology patient
