The Mandt System - Advanced Technical
In the Advanced Technical Training we will teach physical skills for protection that are consistent with the values of collaborative and trauma informed approach to care, and focus on positive relational interactions taught in the Relational, Conceptual, and Technical chapters:
The primary purpose of this course is to teach advanced skills by helping you “connect the dots” between all the principles taught in the Relational, Conceptual, and Technical chapters of The Mandt System®.
The Advanced Technical Training is taught as a single chapter, with the following topic headings:
Physical Interaction Policy – Mandt System Standard of Care
Proactive Approach – Using the RADAR Model
Standards of care and prohibited practices
Advanced De-escalation and Team Skills
Advanced Stance and Balance Skills
Advanced Distancing Skills
Advanced Separating Skills
Advanced Re-Directing Skills
Code White policy for BCCH will also be reviewed.
All Direct Care Staff (Nurses, YFCs) and allied staff of Healthy Minds in patient and day programs at BC Children's Hospital- annual certification |

**All persons in attendance to follow Children's Hospital Covid 19 healthy and safety policy and guidelines, point of care risk assessment, infection control policy and guidelines and principles of routine practices policy. Prior to attending educational sessions, you must obtain approval from your manager or supervisor if attending on scheduled work time (or if you expect to be reimbursed if attending outside of work time). You must have completed your RCT certification prior to attending the Advanced Technical Course. Please dress in non slip shoes and comfortable clothing to be able to move and do physical interaction. |
