A Guide to the Certificate of Incapability Process under the Adult Guardianship Act

This course is for health care providers who participate in the certificate of incapability process and specifically for individuals who conduct financial incapability assessments and who issue certificates of incapability.

After completing this course learners should:

  • Have an in-depth understanding of the certificate of incapability process
  • Be familiar with the history and legislative framework
  • Be able to follow and implement the key steps in the process
  • Be aware of the roles and responsibilities of each of the people involved
  • Be confident in their ability to act as a qualified health care provider or health authority designate
  • Be able to ensure that all the required legal processes are followed
  • Be capable of applying best practices to their role
