PICNet - Provincial Infection Prevention and Control Precautions for High Threat Pathogens
Provincial training standards used in this course include preparedness for responding safely to high threat pathogens.
This course is intended for health care workers who will be providing direct patient care to patients with confirmed and suspected high threat pathogens. Health care workers can include staff associated with the BC Biocontainment Unit, BCEHS and Type 1 and 2 facilities within British Columbia.
Upon completion of the “Infection Prevention and Control Precautions for High Threat Pathogens” learners will be able to identify the various requirements when caring for patients with confirmed or suspected high threat pathogens. This includes designated personal protective equipment, special donning and doffing procedures, biocontainment protocols and more.
Please note: This course is recommended to be followed by hands-on practice and is not intended to be used as a stand-alone piece.
