Course Prerequisites
LPNs care for patients across the lifespan with stable or predictable presentations, and pediatric foundational knowledge is recognized as an integral aspect of ED LPN practice. Pediatric care considerations are integrated throughout the topic-specific content of the ECLIP Orientation Modules; however, certain aspects of pediatric assessment and care require additional focused attention.
The objectives of these modules are to help you refresh your foundational pediatric knowledge, review common pediatric presentations to the emergency, and understand your role in caring for these presentations as an ED LPN. The objectives of this module are also to provide an orientation to the pediatric-related knowledge, skills and behaviors outlined in the BC Provincial ED LPN Competencies.

This recommended curriculum, including classroom and preceptorship experiences, may look different depending on Health Authority considerations, unique needs of specific emergency departments, and factors such as individual LPN competencies and experiences. See your local HA and/or ED leadership for more information. |
