PHC Simulation Learning Strategies: Facilitator Development
Course Description
The Simulation Learning Strategies: Facilitator Development Curriculum is the first foundational workshop for healthcare professionals who are new to utilizing simulation as an educational method and strategy.
This course provides theory and practice; emphasizing debriefing/feedback relevant for learning.
Learning Objectives
In this workshop learners will:
- Develop a foundational knowledge of simulation-based learning strategies
- Identify elements of effective teamwork (Crisis Resource Management) and incorporate those elements into simulation-based learning objectives
- Learn the foundations of debriefing skills and their application in simulation-based learning
- Plan and develop a simulation scenario
- Facilitate a simulation scenario
This curriculum includes several online modules, please complete The Simulation Facilitator Pathways e-Learning Module (#20661) and Crisis Resource Management (#28243) on Learning Hub prior to the first day of this workshop.
Educators and registered health professionals who are new to utilizing simulation, or who have foundational simulation experience and seek formal training to strengthen their facilitation practice. Space is limited to 10 participants. |

This course is intended for registered health professionals currently practicing in roles that involve a direct responsibility for simulation facilitation or education. Participants must have manager support, be able to attend all course days, and commit to actively facilitating simulation sessions within their program in the next 6–12 months. Enrollment is reserved for those in roles positioned to deliver simulation aligned with program and patient safety priorities. |

The workshops are offered to you by PHC Simulation Team. If you can’t attend, we require at least 2 business day notice to accommodate those on the wait list. Please email us at simulation@phc.ca and cc malavika.menon@phc.ca and cancel your Learning Hub registration. We begin pulling from our waitlist 2 weeks before the course opens. For those in other health authorities please email simulation@phc.ca and we will register you on the waitlist and enroll you if space is available 2 weeks before the course commences. The PHC Simulation Team will send you an email one month prior to the course taking place which will include required pre-readings and location specific information. |
