PHSA - ECBC - ECLIP - Welcome to the Emergency Department
Emergency is a unique environment in the context of nursing care in that patient presentations are unscheduled and undifferentiated (undiagnosed). BCCNM regulations require specifically that LPNs who work in an "Emergency Room" practice setting have an orientation consistent with entry-level competencies, that they "Do Not Triage" clients, and that they must "Work in a Team Nursing Approach".
The included modules are part of the Emergency Care LPN Integrated Practice (ECLIP) orientation curriculum and have been developed to introduce the curriculum and increase understanding of LPN scope of practice and competencies in the emergency setting.

Note: This curriculum has been developed to support an optimized LPN scope of practice in the ED. These modules are part of the BC Provincial Emergency Care LPN Integrated Program (ECLIP). This recommended curriculum, including classroom and preceptorship experiences, may look different depending on Health Authority considerations, unique needs of specific emergency departments, and factors such as individual LPN competencies and experiences. See your local HA and/or ED leadership for more information. |
