PLEASE NOTE: You will need to connect with your educator before you can register for this course. Please ensure that you have your current Heart and Stroke CPR certification. You are Required to pay $4 online via Credit Card at the Time of Learning Hub Registration for Heart & Stroke Canada

The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics. Prereading and a self assessment is required prior to attending this course. Please allow yourself 2-4 weeks to complete the precourse preparation. Priority goes to critical care, OR/ACU and interventional radiology. Support and approval must be granted by your manager and educator.
Current Heart and Stroke BLS with ID number is a pre-requisite to taking the course.


Nurses, Physicians, Respiratory Therapists, paramedics involved in managing Pediatric resuscitation. Verified Children's and Women's employees please have your employee ID number on the Learning Hub.

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support manual (2015) is available for loan through the Study and Learning Commons, F4. The manual is also available for purchase online from Heart and Stroke Canada at resusciation.heartandstroke.ca All participants must have current BLS certification with Heart and Stroke Canada with registration number. Self assessment quiz found at resuscitation.heartandstroke.ca under training resources needs to be completed and proof of a score of 70% must be presented on the first day of class.
