PHSA - LPR - Privacy and Security 101
Privacy and Security 101 is required training (as well as the Confidentiality Acknowledgement included within the course) for all PHSA Staff and must be completed every 24 months per PHSA’s Privacy Management and Accountability policy: https://shop.healthcarebc.ca/phsa/PHSAPOD/Privacy/C-99-11-20355.pdf
Private practice physicians and their employees who will be provided with access to CareConnect must also complete the course and sign the Confidentiality Acknowledgement prior to access being granted.
Topics include:
- Definition of privacy, confidentiality and cybersecurity
- What information needs to be protected
- Different types of breaches and security incidents that may occur
- How to prevent breaches and incidents
- Potential consequences of breaches and incidents

“Staff” means all unionized and non-contract employees (including management and leadership), medical staff members (including physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives, and dentists), residents, fellows and trainees, health care professionals, students, volunteers, contractors, researchers, and other service providers engaged by the Organizations. PHSA managers and leaders are accountable for verifying that staff they are responsible for have completed the course. |
