This mandatory course is intended for all Island Health employees - Indigenous and non-Indigenous – and provides the core knowledge to meet the requirements of the organizations’ Indigenous-specific Anti-racism and Discrimination Policy. The course outlines responsibilities for identifying and addressing Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination, appropriate and safe responses to incidents, and the procedures for reporting concerns when racism is experienced or witnessed. The course also reviews protocols and supports in place to ensure a safe, respectful workplace. These foundational learnings are essential to building awareness within Island Health to advance anti-racism, cultural safety, and cultural humility practices through a speak up culture and safe reporting processes.

If you self-identify as Indigenous, an Indigenous Employee Experience Advisor is available to assist you in completing the course. Please reach out to IndigenousEmployeeExperience@islandhealth.ca for support or to offer feedback regarding the policy and learning module.
