PHSA - TCBC - Gender-Affirming Conversations: Improving health care experiences for TTNB people
Gender-Affirming Conversations supports clinicians who are relatively new to providing gender-affirming care to build their confidence interacting with trans, Two-Spirit and non-binary (TTNB) people. The course explores the practice of universal gender screening in history taking, ways to provide patients opportunities to self-identify their gender and related care needs, an overview of gender-affirming treatment options and resources where providers can access support from experienced clinicians.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify respectful ways to inquire about gender and provide affirming support for TTNB patients as their care needs arise
- Describe options available for gender-affirmation (non-medical, medical and surgical)
- Locate and use relevant clinical and community-facing resources to support TTNB patients as care needs arise
