PHSA - PC - PHS - Power of Appreciation and Mattering
This facilitated, interactive workshop explores the power of appreciation and mattering in fostering psychologically healthy and safe workplaces. Designed for leaders and those who influence team culture, participants will examine how genuine appreciation strengthens collaboration, while a sense of mattering drives engagement, wellbeing, and purposeful contribution. Through reflection, discussion and practical tools, learners will identify actionable strategies to embed appreciation into everyday leadership practices, cultivate a culture of affirmation and empowerment, and reinforce a strong sense of value and belonging across teams.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Define appreciation and recognition, and understand their role in psychological health and safety.
- Recognize the impact of feeling valued on employee wellbeing, engagement, and performance.
- Identify practical and meaningful ways to express appreciation in daily leadership practices.
- Reflect on personal and organizational practices that support (or hinder) a culture of mattering.
- Apply simple, actionable strategies to foster appreciation and reinforce a sense of belonging within teams.
