This course explains Island Health’s Respectful Workplace Policy and corresponding procedures through the use of activities, scenarios and diagrams. The course also outlines the resources and services provided by the Respectful Workplace Program.
As part of Island Health’s commitment to fostering safe, healthy and inclusive workplaces that promote human rights, personal dignity and support every individual’s right to physical and psychological safety, a new Our Respectful Workplace course has been created to reflect important changes made to our policy and procedures. It is for this reason that we are asking all employees to complete the new course.
To meet WorkSafeBC’s (WSBC) workplace bullying and harassment regulations, all Island Health employees (including medical staff), and volunteers are required to complete all sections of the course, including the quiz.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand Island Health’s commitment to a respectful workplace.
- Recognize workplace bullying and harassment.
- Describe the potential effects of bullying and harassment.
- Describe the responsibilities of the employer, supervisors, and workers in relation to workplace bullying and harassment.
- Explain what to do if you experience workplace conflict.
- Explain how to report bullying and harassment and what happens when reported.
