Advancing Healthcare Equity for Gender Diverse populations (Trans 201)

This course is an extension of the '101' offered by Prism Services. This 120-minute virtual session will focus on furthering skills to welcome and support trans, Two-Spirit and gender diverse individuals who receive our care, as well as increasing participant's knowledge on the current climate of Transgender healthcare.

All staff are strongly encouraged to attend! We have many trans, Two-Spirit and gender diverse patients and clients who access our services. Psychological safety awareness in working with 2SLGBTQIA+ folks is a core competency requirement for our work, and reflects our VCH Values.

This session will cover:

-A deeper look into the healthcare offerings for gender-diverse people in BC and across the world.
-what transition may involve & issues unique to trans/2S and gender diverse folks
-A refresher on language & key concepts relating to trans/2S and gender diverse people
-A discussion of our relationship to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the medias
-how to foster a more welcoming clinic space or workplace environment for gender-diverse people
-working alongside folks in allyship and solidarity
-available resources

This course will be offered via Zoom. All participants will be sent a link to our Prism dropbox which has a copy of the course slides and resources, and the Zoom meeting invite, a week before the course date.
