PHSA - BCCDC - Overview of Syphilis for Healthcare Providers in BC

This online course will provide clinicians with key foundational knowledge to support them in management and follow up of syphilis cases and their contacts in BC.

Participants will learn the clinical recognition, screening and appropriate testing, treatment and follow-up for syphilis.

Topics include:

  • Public health importance of syphilis in Canada and BC
  • Etiology, transmission, and clinical presentation of the different stages of syphilis
  • Laboratory testing for syphilis (serological and molecular tests)
  • Integrating and addressing sexual health communication in to one’s practice.

  • BC Clinicians who may be involved with the case management and follow up of syphilis cases and their contacts.
