Specialist Trauma Advisory Network (STAN) - Imaging Guidelines for Major Trauma for British Columbia

The Specialist Trauma Advisory Network (STAN) is a advisory group and oversight network of clinical specialist for complex trauma care across B.C.

STAN in collaboration with medical imagers/imaging departments and trauma clinicians developed clinical practice guidelines to support clinicians when caring for the major trauma patient. The goal of this learning module is to ensure that clinicians have the right imaging for the right trauma patient at the right time.

The optimal management of major trauma requires that clinicians, radiologists, and other medical and technical personnel work seamlessly together to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment. This includes minimizing unnecessary imaging examinations and establishing consistent reporting procedures to avoid critical delays and to ensure that healthcare resources are used both effectively and efficiently.
