Violence Prevention – 3.5 hour PVPC Classroom – Providence Health Care

For repatriated Food Services and EVS staff, and also newly hired Food Services and Housekeeping staff: This practical, hands-on 3.5 hour classroom session provides opportunities to practice key violence prevention strategies and build on the skills learned in the e-learning modules.

This course is the classroom component of the Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum. All participants must complete the pre-requisite online modules prior to attending the course.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After staff complete the course, they will be able to:
• Recognize Risks and Behaviours (signs of emotional crisis/behavioural emergency)
• Assess and Plan (point-of-care risk assessments)
• Respond to the Risk (de-escalation skills, determining when and how to call for help)
• Report and Communicate Post-Incident
