Language and Cultural Considerations for Goals of Care Conversations
Many clinicians encounter challenges when discussing goals of care with patients and families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Each of our panelists has been involved in research and community engagement work to better understand some of the cultural considerations around having goals of care conversations with people from Indigenous, South Asian, and Chinese communities. By sharing their experiences, our guest speakers help us consider how we can bring cultural humility into the care we provide for people of all backgrounds.
All healthcare professionals and members of the public with an interest in best practices related to a palliative approach to care for people living with serious illness and person-centered conversations about their goals of care. |
