Implementation Science 101

Are you interested in applying implementation science principles to your efforts in implementing a program, intervention, or practice change? Are you curious about how implementation science can guide your practice change efforts? This two-session workshop will: introduce you to key concepts and principles of implementation science; present theories, models and frameworks used in Knowledge Translation (KT) and implementation science; describe methodological approaches for the practice of KT and implementation science; introduce strategies to implement evidence-informed interventions and change practice in health settings; and walk-through different techniques to select implementation strategies. Learners will hear examples of how Fraser Health teams have used implementation science to guide the implementation of evidence-based interventions in a variety of settings across Fraser Health.

Learning Objectives:

1. Define core concepts of implementation science.
2. Identify theories, models and frameworks used in knowledge translation and implementation science.
3. Critically appraise methodological approaches for the practice of knowledge translation and implementation science.
4. Identify strategies to implement evidence-informed interventions and change practice in health settings.
5. Apply different techniques to select implementation strategies.
