The education is interactive and self-reflective—engaging your emotional, intellectual, personal, and professional self. Our facilitators are skilled at creating and holding a space of safety for this process. Please prepare yourself for a learning experience that may arouse emotion or stimulate new ways of seeing our collective history. We recommend that you consider booking a light work-load in the hours after your ICS training as people often feel introspective afterwards. Please contact our office should you have any further questions on how to prepare yourself or your team prior to the training.

The ICS Education: Hummingbird Level 1- Foundations Module 2, opens with an introduction to traditional land acknowledgements, and VCH’s commitments to culturally safe care and invites you to practice with an interactive exercise that explores pre and post-contact histories of Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous settlers in Canada. The latter half of the workshop is an engaging, reflective journey exploring VCH Indigenous Cultural Safety Policy and how we can integrate that knowledge within our healthcare practice.
