Community New Educator Orientation
These Workshops are Facilitated Virtually - a link will be sent prior to the day of the workshop.
Community New Educator Orientation (NEO) is composed of two virtual workshops (3A & 3B) designed to support Community Educators (CEs) and Clinical Resource Nurses (CRNs) during the beginning stages of their new role. Each virtual session is 2 hours.
It is recommended to take these workshops in order.
The NEO Online Modules complement the content of these workshops. It is highly recommended to review these modules prior to attending Community NEO workshops. NEO Online Modules: https://educatorhub.vchlearn.ca/
Each Community NEO workshop is 2 hours. In addition to networking with other new Community Educators, attending NEO workshops will enhance an Educator's ability to:
- Describe resources related to/supportive of Educator responsibilities.
- Outline Educator responsibilities when supporting professional learning plans for a team and also for yourself.
- Apply a feedback framework when providing and receiving feedback.
- Examine the impact of leadership qualities in your role as an Educator.
- Describe and utilize adult learning principles in day-to-day practice.
- Articulate the purpose of the ADDIE model when developing education.
- Develop elements of a foundational lesson plan .
- Identify role transition strategies.
Community-based Nurses and Allied Health Professionals in a Clinical Resource/Educator role or those who have a significant education component to their role. |

These workshops are held virtually. A link will be sent to your Learning Hub email prior to each session. Please obtain approval from your manager or supervisor if you are attending educational sessions on scheduled work time (or if you expect to be reimbursed for attending outside of work time).
