LEAP-CORE Online (Learning Essentials in Palliative Care – Pallium)
Course Description
LEAP CORE provides the basics of palliative care for clinicians providing palliative care across all settings: acute care, community, long term care, and specialist palliative care beds. It covers symptom management and psychosocial care. This 2 day course includes online modules and 4 webinars. The schedule is as follows for Day 1 & 2: 8:00-9:20 am Online Modules 9:30-11:30am Live Zoom Webinar 12:15-2:15pm Online Modules 2:30-4:30pm Live Zoom Webinar
Prerequisite
Registration with Pallium Canada is required, and instructions will be sent to you. There are 3 short pre-course surveys to complete prior to the start date. Please email PALLADMIN@islandhealth.ca to be provided an enrollment KEY to register on the Pallium Canada internet site. Learners complete online modules followed by live webinars with LEAP facilitators.
Learning Objectives
Modules include:
Advance Care Planning, Goals of Care and Decision-Making Pain, Dyspnea Hydration and Nutrition, Gastrointestinal Symptoms Delirium, Depression, Anxiety, and Grief Palliative Sedation, Request to Hasten Death Suffering, Spiritual Care, and Maintaining Hope
