PHSA - BCCDC - COVID-19 Immunization Competency Course
Reminder: LearningHub is only to be used by those working and studying in British Columbia.
Between August 9th to August 19th, this course will be updated to include the content from the following COVID-19 courses:
-COVID-19 Competency Course for Non-Nursing Health Professionals
-Immunization for Older Children and Adolescents
-Immunization for Children 5-11 Years of Age
-Immunization for infants and children 6 months to 4 years of age
Purpose:
While the complete BCCDC Immunization Competency Course is recommended for all new vaccine providers, the need for an expedited immunization competency education process is essential to administer the COVID-19 vaccine in a timely manner (i.e., for those who will be providing COVID-19 vaccines only). As such, this course has been developed to equip new immunizers with the knowledge necessary to provide safe and effective COVID-19 immunization based on the Immunization Competencies for BC Health Professionals which are an adaptation of the Public Health Agency of Canada’s (PHAC) immunization competencies.
For LPNs, the BCCDC COVID-19 Immunization Competency Course meets the BCCNM’s additional education requirement (condition) for LPNs to autonomously administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
