PHSA - PC - PHS - Employee Psychosocial Check-In Training

Join this practical and interactive training designed to help leaders of all levels recognize when a staff member may need support and engage in compassionate, trauma informed psychosocial check ins. You’ll learn a simple, effective approach for planning and having these conversations, strengthen your active listening skills, and become familiar with key workplace resources.

Grounded in the National Standard for Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace, this session supports leaders in building confidence, reducing uncertainty, and feeling better equipped to respond when staff are struggling.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe how psychosocial check-ins align with the National Standard for Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace.
  2. Explain the relationship between psychological health, stress and distress and employee performance in the workplace.
  3. Recognize situations in which a psychosocial check-in with an employee may be appropriate.
  4. Articulate the essential components of a psychosocial check-in conversations using trauma informed principles.
  5. Demonstrate trauma informed active listening skills that support psychological safety and appropriate boundaries during a psychosocial check-in.
  6. Become familiar with available employee workplace resources and supports.
