Gender Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Healthcare (Trans 101)

This 90-minute virtual session will focus on developing skills to welcome and support trans, Two-Spirit and gender diverse individuals who receive our care; in order to increase safety and access for folks, and promote health and wellness. This course is held on Zoom as a webinar.

All staff are strongly encouraged to attend! We have many trans, Two-Spirit and gender diverse patients and clients who access our services. Psychological safety awareness in working with 2SLGBTQIA+ people is a core competency requirement for our work, and reflects our VCH Values.

This session cover:

-language & key concepts relating to trans/2S and gender diverse people

-what transition may involve & issues unique to trans/2S and gender diverse folks

-societal discrimination and family rejection

-working alongside folks in allyship and solidarity

-gender–affirming care in practice
-available resources

This course will be offered via Zoom. All participants will be sent a link to our Prism dropbox which has a copy of the course slides and resources, and the Zoom meeting invite, a week before the course date.
