Violence Prevention – PVPC for Physicians Classroom
This practical, hands-on 3.5 hour classroom session provides opportunities to practice key violence prevention strategies and build on the skills learned in the e-learning modules.
This course is the classroom component of the violence prevention curriculum for medical staff. All participants must complete the pre-requisites prior to attending the course.
If you have completed the PVPC e-learning modules for health care staff, this is considered equivalent to the pre-requisites outline for this course. Please contact the course owner or course manager for assistance registering for this course.

Medical staff conducting work in public health care facilities in British Columbia (e.g., physicians, resident doctors, midwives, dentists, etc.) PHC classroom sessions are for Medical Staff that have privileges to practice at PHC sites and thus, are limited to Providence Health Care Medical Staff only. Compensation for class attendance is only available to PHC Physicians that work in high risk areas. For more information about PHC classroom sessions, please contact violenceprevention@providencehealth.bc.ca. Additionally, there must be a minimum of 3 registered for the class to move forward within PHC. |

Physical participation in practice exercises is required for this course. All participants must wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear (e.g., running shoes) in order to participate safely. Heels, flip-flops, sandals, or other open-toed shoes are not acceptable. For specific inquiries regarding individual enrollment or attendance, please contact the violence prevention advisor or coordinator for your organization. The course owner is not involved in classroom session coordination. PHC classroom sessions are for Medical Staff that have privileges to practice at PHC sites and thus, are limited to Providence Health Care Medical Staff only.
