Pyxis Basic Training Registration

This course is intended for approved new hires and preceptorship students working in Fraser Health patient care areas with Pyxis™ MedStations.

Pyxis™ is a brand of an automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) that secures approximately 90% of the medications in a patient care area. It increases efficiencies, security and decreases risk of med error.

Fraser Health (FH) Pyxis™ Sites:

  • Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) (Training site)
  • Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgical Centre (JPOCSC)
  • Abbotsford Regional Hospital (ARH) (Training site)
  • Mission Memorial Hospital (MMH)

Note: FH Pyxis™ ADCs is upgrading to a new version. The current 4000 version will be changing to Enterprise Server (ES) with a phased in approach. Registrants requiring ES Training will be notified by Clinical Nurse Advisors and may expect a 2hr session.

Approved preceptorship students, new hires (Nursing/RT/Nuc Med Technologists/Clinical Pharmacists and physicians) working in patient care areas with Pyxis™.

• Preceptorship students: a program coordinator/clinical instructor must send a user request form to the site shared email inbox to verify your eligibility for basic training.

• Please contact the site CNA(s) to cancel a session within 48 hours or for questions.

• The site CNA(s) requires:

  • a hire/orientation confirmation from a BSA/Educator/Delegate to determine eligibility for training
  • a Preceptorship User Access Request Form from the school Coordinator/Instructor/Delegate
    • Preceptorship students require a full basic training as preparation for graduation and increased scope of practice, specifically handling controlled substances. Please cancel immediately or contact the site CNA(s) if you are assigned to a Pyxis™ site with a clinical group.

Modified focused orientation is offered to new hires in the following areas of practice (please contact SMHAMDS@fraserhealth.ca to coordinate date/time):
