Skin and Wound: Assessing and Managing Wound Pain

After completing this course, RNs, LPNs, RPNs, NPs, OTs, and PTs providing wound care in Island Health will be able to document and re-evaluate wound pain assessment and treatment within the wound care plan at every provision of care.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
• Identify wound pain classification, categories of pain and wound etiology,
• Utilize appropriate pain assessment tools to determine the patient’s experienced level of pain.
• Develop and implement a care plan to address wound pain and quality of life.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the wound pain care plan
