Skin and Wound: Nutrition and Wound Healing

After completing this course, RNs, LPNs, RPNs, OTs, and PTs will be able to perform a nutritional screen, collaborate with RD and/or initiate appropriate referrals and support the client/patient/resident to follow the recommendations when admitted to a VIHA service for potential/actual wound care.

By the end of this course you will be able to identify:

  • Tools to screen for malnutrition.
  • Patients at risk for delayed healing due to nutritional deficiencies.
  • Patients who would benefit from a referral to a Registered Dietitian

You will also be able to provide basic recommendations to patients with wounds.
