Introduction to Sexual Assault

This course focuses specifically on the issue of sexual assault - what is consent, what is sexual assault, how to respond to a disclosure of sexual assault, how to support survivors, provide them with options, make an effective referral, and care for yourself.

This course is part of the "Gender-based Violence: We All Can Help" learning series #17362, which includes the course, "Identifying, Responding to and Addressing the Impacts of Gender-based Violence", #26819.

While it is not a prerequisite, we recommend taking #26819 as a complement to this course.


The target audience for this course is health sector workers, so the language and the scenarios come from a health-care context. However anyone may take the course and most of the information is relevant to other workplaces where you may encounter survivors.
