PCIS VA/RH Clinical Basics - Online
Introduction to the Patient Care Information System (PCIS) used at VGH, UBC Hospital, Richmond Hospital, GF Strong, George Pearson Centre, Mary Pack Arthritis Centre and Dogwood Lodge.
PCIS Access and Training is NOT required in the areas using CST Cerner as of November 5, 2022
COVID-19 Update: This course replaces the PCIS VA/RH Basics - Classroom course which has been suspended at this time.
This course includes:
- Introduction to PCIS screens
- Navigate to look up patients
- Understand Chart Tabs
- Find Lab, Cardiology, Radiology and Transcribed reports
- Print Labels
- Learn how to Transfer, Swap and Discharge patients
Course Length: approx 2 hours
NOTE: Required Supplemental Training materials, that may be sent with the PCIS Access confirmation
e-mail after completion of the course, should be reviewed if applicable.
Depending on Job Role, additional time may be needed.
This course is available to:
* Nursing Students (in Instructor led groups) - not required to take this course as they are not issued a PCIS account for access. Students will not receive access but may take course for educational purposes (e.g. - Preceptorship Students). NOTE: Other clinical staff and students, such as Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Allied Health, should not take this course and instead register for the PCIS VA/RH Basics - Online course.
