Violence Prevention – PVPC Classroom – Fraser Health

This course is for current staff who work at Fraser Health sites ONLY.

This course is intended for staff that work in High and High +ATR risk areas. Staff are expected to complete all required violence prevention training within 6 weeks of start date.

The 8 online violence prevention modules are a pre-requisite for this program.

This is a provincially recognized course - if you took the course with a school or other Health Authority within B.C. then you need to send your certificate to People Assist (search on the Pulse) for equivalency course credit.

This Core Violence Prevention class is the Provincially standardized program.
The goal of the Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum (PVPC) is to help health care workers learn the steps they need to take to prevent and protect against violence in the workplace. The curriculum is based on overarching principles and a Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum framework which identifies 4 main responsibilities in preventing and protecting against violence in the workplace:

  1. Recognize Risks and Behaviours,
  2. Assess and Plan,
  3. Respond to the Risk,
  4. Report and Communicate Post-Incident.
There are specific tasks under each of the main responsibilities. Participants will learn the foundational knowledge regarding those tasks in the series of e-learning modules; participants attending the classroom sessions will apply that knowledge through activities to further reinforce and practice what they need to do to prevent and protect against workplace violence.

This course is for current staff who work at Fraser Health sites ONLY.
