This Core Violence Prevention class is the Provincially standardized program.
The goal of the Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum (PVPC) is to help health care workers learn the steps they need to take to prevent and protect against violence in the workplace. The curriculum is based on overarching principles and a Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum framework which identifies 4 main responsibilities in preventing and protecting against violence in the workplace:

  1. Recognize Risks and Behaviours,
  2. Assess and Plan,
  3. Respond to the Risk,
  4. Report and Communicate Post-Incident.
There are specific tasks under each of the main responsibilities. Participants will learn the foundational knowledge regarding those tasks in the series of e-learning modules; participants attending the Virtual classroom sessions will apply that knowledge through activities to further reinforce and practice what they need to do to prevent and protect against workplace violence.
Be prepared to give your employee number to the facilitator via private message on Zoom. Ensure you have a safe environment to practice the physical skills and that you notify the facilitator of any limitations.
