The Research Process in 9 Steps

If you’ve ever wondered how to turn your every-day health care questions into a research project, this workshop will show the way. You’ll get an overview of the 9 steps typical research project and try your hand at writing different types of research questions. An understanding of this process is important to the development of an effective research protocol and to the execution of the research study.

By the end of this workshop, the learner will be able to:

  • Define research and the differences between research, evaluation and quality improvement projects
  • Describe the nine major components of the research process
  • Explore the relationship between the research question and the research methodology
  • Identify the skills needed to design and conduct research
  • Formulate your idea into a researchable question using tools
  • Assess the feasibility and relevance of your research question
