How To Influence Decisions: Using Effective Knowledge Transfer and Exchange (KTE) Strategies

*Do you need to justify a decision for your program (includes initiatives/interventions/processes)? Are you interested in finding out how to mobilize your knowledge in effective ways to influence decisions and improve our healthcare system? Do you want to learn evidence-based strategies to improve the uptake and application of research and evaluation findings?

This workshop will provide you with KT basics and help you understand how to effectively use evidence to make your case as strong as possible. This workshop will also offer a framework to organize an effective knowledge translation strategy.

OBJECTIVES:

• Explain the terminology, concepts and principles of Knowledge Translation (KT)
• Understand the differences between Dissemination and Implementation
• Identify evidence-based resources for KT
• Describe how patient partners and other partners could be involved in KT processes
• Understand frameworks to organize and develop a KT strategy
• Apply the concepts of legitimacy, feasibility and support to the use of evidence for decision purposes
