Evaluation 101: Conducting Evaluation for Decision Making

*How do you know your program or your intervention is successful? Was it implemented as planned? How do you measure success?

This workshop will help you discover how evaluation concepts can facilitate planning your program (includes initiatives/interventions/processes) for a more successful implementation. This is a case-based workshop and you are asked to bring real life examples of programs/initiatives/processes that you want to evaluate. Evaluation cases will also be used. This workshop will benefit those who need to plan a program and/or develop an evaluation plan for an already established program. Time will be set aside to work on individual or team based evaluations.

OBJECTIVES:
• Describe the differences between evaluation, quality improvement and research
• Identify two primary types of evaluation and their purposes
• Write an evaluable objective for your program that is SMART
• Develop a preliminary logic model for your program to help guide planning/evaluation
• Identify the difference between an output and an outcome indicator and how these relate to the types of evaluation
• Develop a preliminary evaluation plan for your program
