Educator Pathway Level 1: Advanced Mentorship

The goal of this workshop is to advance your ability to support learning in one-to-one or small groups. This workshop is for individuals that work with students as preceptors or field guides, or for employees that mentor new staff. This workshop is for intermediate to advanced mentor/preceptors – any employees can enrol. At the end of this interactive, 1-day workshop, you will be able to:
• Analyze personal and learner preferences in relation to a teaching and learning process model
• Analyze how teaching and learning theories inform the role of a mentor/preceptor
• Use a questioning framework to foster critical thinking and clinical reasoning
• Manage challenging teaching/learning situations
• Link teaching and learning with advancing professional practice
• Develop a collaborative learning plan

It is recommended to complete the Foundational Mentorship Workshop prior to this course.

This workshop is a part of the Educator Pathway program which is based on the best practice in the delivery of education and educational leadership. The workshops are an inexpensive way to prepare and enhance the abilities of those with informal education as a part of their role. The Educator Pathway workshops are intended for ALL health professions and ALL practice areas.
