Health Literacy – What is it and why worry about it? (Introduction)
In Canada, approximately 55% of working adults and 88% of adults over age of 65 have limited health literacy. But what is this thing called ‘health literacy’ and why should we worry about it?
This workshop introduces you to the issue of limited health literacy and its impact on health outcomes and patient safety. Explore strategies to improve access, understanding, and communication.
Improve the patient experience. Begin to integrate health literacy into your practice. Help Fraser Health be a health literate organization and meet Accreditation Canada standards.
This 3-hour workshop is right for you if you are a healthcare provider or design healthcare processes. You will learn about strategies you can use to overcome barriers to health care resulting from low health literacy.
